Students Make the City

Students Make the City – Participatory Budgeting and Schoolchildren’s Ideas is a project that raises awareness among young people about the functioning of local government and participatory budgeting. Through it, students and pupils can effectively participate in local decision-making.

During a four-hour programme held in selected schools, we will introduce students to the principles of participatory democracy and the participatory budget itself. Then, in groups or individually, students will generate their own ideas that they can submit to solve something that concerns them. They will be assisted in the creation of their ideas by called representatives of the city/municipality. In the last part of the project there will be a structured dialogue between the students and the political leadership of the municipality/city, where the students will present their ideas and can also discuss current events or anything they consider important.

The project was implemented between 2020-2023 under the Erasmus+ programme.
