REscEU – What would life be like without the EU?
Program objectives:
Develops students’ knowledge of the European Union, its functioning, processes and its role in people’s everyday lives.
Supports the ability to think critically and discuss the European Union and the benefits and risks that arise for Czech citizens from the Czech Republic’s membership in the EU.
Participants will learn more about the topic of the European Union in an interactive and entertaining way during the program.
Time allocation:
1st lesson: escape game (45 min)
2nd lesson: discussion and workshop (45 min)
Target group:
students aged 16 – 19
group of 6 – 30 students
Motivational story of the escape game:
In the not-too-distant future, people have lost trust and interest in politics. Their lack of interest has led to the increase in the influence of anti-democratic and anti-EU parties throughout Europe. The year is now 2040. The European Union has not existed for 16 years and the effects of its collapse are slowly starting to show. Extremist parties have started to exploit social instability and conflicts of opinion, states have stopped showing solidarity with each other, they protect their own markets and borders, the possibility of travel is limited, there is a lack of labor and some important resources.
How can the Czech Republic and Europe be helped out of this situation? Your group of investigative journalists has been searching for an answer to this for some time. You have just received new information from your secret source. All you have to do is get into the briefcase where it is hidden…
International cooperation:
The project REscEU – what would life be without the EU was supported by the European Union’s Europe for Citizens programme and Agora CE is one of eleven partners from Italy, Spain, Greece, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Poland, Latvia and Estonia.
Agora met with international partners during the project planning and evaluation at two international events. The first meeting of partners took place in Rome in June 2021, and the second meeting in Novo mesto, Slovenia, in June 2022.
