Young Heroes – Empowerment of young men and women in BiH on community level

Partner: Association of Election Officials in BiH ( AEOBiH )

The project responds to the low participation of young people in public life in Bosnia and Herzegovina, their distrust of politics and doubts that they can make a difference. In the field of education, it responds to insufficient and too theoretical education and the persistent low contact between decision-makers and youth in the country. The project will involve 200 students from 10 schools from 10 different rural and remote communities and 40 decision-makers from these municipalities. Teachers and students will be trained on the topics of school-community connections, opportunities for civic participation, project management and campaign management. In 10 municipalities, a mapping of community needs and communication between young people and local authorities will be carried out. The project team from both countries will continuously consult in person and online on the progress of the preparation and implementation of the projects.

The result will be 10 student projects for the benefit of the community. The projects will be documented using videos and at the end there will be a campaign in 10 municipalities and centrally in Sarajevo. The goal is high publicity and awareness-raising about the possibilities and benefits of young people’s participation at the local level and changes in formal education. At the local level, local communities will be strengthened, and at the national level, democracy and democratic principles and values will be supported, because diverse groups of people across ethnic, religious, age and social groups will be involved in the project, and the principle of tolerance across society will be strengthened.

The project is supported by the Transition program of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
